The Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade steps off at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, on 4th Street in downtown Las Vegas, after opening ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. Clark County School District students have no school that day; the district's 2026 to 2027 School Calendar for Students lists Wednesday, November 11, as "Veterans Day (No School)." We rechecked the calendar and every listing below on Thursday, October 29, 2026. Times are Pacific.
When and where is the Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade?
The parade runs from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, November 11, according to the organizer, Veterans Action Group, a Henderson nonprofit that bills it as "the largest Veterans Day Parade West of the Mississippi." Opening ceremonies start at 9:30 a.m. at the grandstand at North 4th Street and Ogden Avenue. The group's registration page lists a bike kickoff at 9:50 a.m. and a flyover at 10:00 a.m., so be in your spot by 9:30.
The route starts at South 4th Street and Garces Avenue and ends at North 4th Street and Stewart Avenue.
The group's FAQ answers the questions families ask most:
Seating: Bring folding chairs and sit anywhere along the route between Garces and Stewart. The bleachers at South 4th Street and Clark Avenue, near the start, are open seating. The grandstand bleachers at North 4th and Ogden are reserved.
No candy toss: Nothing may be thrown from vehicles or by marchers, "for insurance purposes & the safety of our children." Don't promise kids candy.
Parking: Metered street parking and garages line the route. The FAQ points to the city's parking page, where you can reserve and pay ahead.
Plan for closed streets. The city has not posted its 2026 closure notice yet. For the 2025 parade, the city's November road closures bulletin closed 4th Street from Las Vegas Boulevard to Stewart Avenue, 3rd Street from Charleston Boulevard to Garces Avenue, and the side streets in between, from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Expect something similar, and come in from the east or west rather than up 4th.
Questions for the organizer go to info@veteransactiongroup.com.
Is there school on Veterans Day 2026?
No. CCSD students are off Wednesday, November 11, 2026, a midweek break that falls eight days after the Election Day closure on Tuesday, November 3. Our 2026 to 2027 CCSD calendar checklist has every day off for the year.
Veterans Day events the weekend before
Henderson Veterans Day Ceremony, Saturday, November 7, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The city's listing on the Nevada Arts Council calendar puts it at the Water Street Plaza Amphitheater, 240 S. Water St., in downtown Henderson, with a presentation of names added to the Henderson Veterans Memorial Wall, a presentation of colors, and the Henderson Symphony Orchestra Brass Band. It's free. The wall was first dedicated in 1994 and now honors nearly 2,000 veterans and soldiers, FOX5 reports, and there's a shuttle from the Water Street parking garage.
Las Vegas Brass Band: A Salute to Our Veterans, Sunday, November 8, 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. Patriotic music and other pieces, part of the Las Vegas Clark County Library District's calendar. The listing says "Free and open to the public," with seats first come, first served. Library phone: 702 507 3459. It's tagged for adults, but a one hour band concert works fine for kids who can sit still.
A quieter Veterans Day morning
If a downtown crowd is too much for little kids, Clark County Wetlands Park runs Nature Tales on Wednesday, November 11, from 11:00 a.m. to noon: a nature story and craft, this month about spiders. It's free, walk in, and for all ages, per the park's November program brochure. The Nature Center is at 7050 Wetlands Park Lane and is open Tuesday through Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Park phone: 702 455 7522.
The weekend after: VA car show and barbecue
Veterans Appreciation Car Show and BBQ, Saturday, November 14, 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. North Las Vegas VA Medical Center, 6900 N. Pecos Road. The VA Southern Nevada Health Care listing says it's free and open to the public, with music, entertainment, a car show, and food. No weapons, alcohol, or smoking.
Why there is no school, and what else is closed
Veterans Day is a Nevada legal holiday. NRS 236.015 lists November 11 among the state's legal holidays and says state, county, and city offices, courts, and public schools must close on them. That is why the day is off for every CCSD student, not just a calendar choice.
It also means the usual backups are thin. The Las Vegas Clark County Library District lists Wednesday, November 11, on its days of closing, so branches are closed. Safekey does not run on days without school, per Clark County's Safekey page, and the City of Las Vegas No School Fun Days list names November 3 and November 25, not November 11. If you need care that Wednesday, call your provider now rather than the week of.
Free Veterans Day meals confirmed for 2026
These are for the person who served, not the whole table. Each offer below is printed on the chain's own 2026 page, checked October 30, 2026. Participation is up to each restaurant, so call the one near you before you go.
Golden Corral, Military Appreciation Night. Wednesday, November 11, 2026, from 4 p.m. to close, a free buffet and beverage for "any person who has served in the U.S. Military (retirees, veterans, active duty, National Guard or Reserves)," per its Military Appreciation page. Family and friends are welcome but pay regular dinner prices. There is no takeout and no rain check.
Red Robin. One free Red's Big Tavern Burger with Bottomless Steak Fries on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, dine in only at participating restaurants, for veterans and active duty members "with valid military ID or proof of service," per its Veterans Day page. No modifications or other burger styles, and tax and tip are not included.
Chili's. A free meal for veterans and active military on November 11, 2026, at participating restaurants, "in-restaurant only for select items," per its Veterans Day page. The page lists Crispers, the Oldtimer Burger with Cheese, Quesadillas, and Soup and House Salad as the choices.
Bring proof. Red Robin requires a military ID or proof of service. Golden Corral's and Chili's pages do not spell out an ID rule, but a military or VA ID card or a DD214 saves a conversation at the host stand. Other chains that ran offers in past years had not posted 2026 terms on their own pages when we checked, so they are not listed here.
