The dates that cost families something if they slip past: application windows, days with no school, and when report cards land. Holidays are listed once. Everything else tells you what to do.

School choice and enrollment

Next magnet / choice window — for 2027–28: The 2026–27 parent calendar lists November 2–December 18, 2026. CCSD usually confirms the exact window in the fall. Families may typically list up to two magnets.
Already closed — 2026–27 placement: Applications for the current school year ran November 3–December 19, 2025, and notices went out in April 2026. Late applications only reach leftover seats.
Kindergarten: A child must turn 5 on or before August 1 of the year they start. Bring a birth certificate, proof of address, and immunization records. Register first, then apply if you want a magnet.
Preschool: Age 4 by August 1 and income-eligible, or age 3–4 with an IEP. Verification window September 2, 2026–February 12, 2027. Call (702) 485-7677.
Transfers: The 2026–27 transfer window runs May 4, 2026–March 5, 2027. Approval is not guaranteed and transportation is not automatic.

Start where you are
