Regular board meeting, Thursday, October 29

The Board of School Trustees holds a regular meeting Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. PT in the Board Room of the Edward A. Greer Education Center, 2832 East Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, according to the October 29 agenda. Every item below is proposed, not approved.

  • High school graduation requirements: Trustees may approve a Notice of Intent to adopt Regulation 5127, High School Graduation Requirements. The Reference 5.02 notice says the regulation may come up for final action on Thursday, December 10, 2026, and that anyone interested may submit "data, views, or arguments, orally or in writing" before then. The proposed regulation text is in that reference file.

  • 2025 to 2026 student performance: The agenda lists a presentation on last school year's student performance, for discussion and possible action.

  • Support staff contract: The board will hold a public hearing and may approve a new Memorandum of Agreement with the Education Support Employees Association revising the 2025 to 2027 negotiated agreement. The agenda says reference material will be provided.

  • Early Head Start at Desert Rose: A consent item would amend the district's agreement with the Sunrise Children's Foundation to keep the Early Head Start Center at Desert Rose High School running from October 30, 2026, through June 30, 2028.

How to take part, according to the board page and the agenda:

You can also sign up in person right before the meeting begins. No one can sign up once the Board President has introduced the item. Each speaker gets 3 minutes on an action item. The whole Consent Agenda counts as one item, with one 3 minute turn. A 3 minute comment period just before adjournment covers topics not listed as action items.
