Is there school on November 3, 2026? No. Clark County School District students are off Tuesday, November 3, for Election Day and a Staff Development Day, according to the district's 2026 to 2027 School Calendar for Students. Classes run Monday, November 2, and again Wednesday, November 4, through Friday, November 6.

That makes it a four day school week. The Board of School Trustees holds a work session Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. PT, with a draft of what the district will ask the 2027 Legislature for, and the Magnet Schools Fair is two Saturdays out.

CCSD Board and District Administration

Work session, Wednesday, November 4

The Board of School Trustees meets in a work session Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. PT in the Board Room of the Edward A. Greer Education Center, 2832 East Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, according to the November 4 agenda posted on the district's Diligent Community portal. A work session is mostly discussion. The only vote of substance on this agenda is the meeting calendar item, and nothing below has been approved.

  • 2027 legislative platform: Trustees will discuss a draft platform for the 84th Session of the Nevada Legislature, which the draft says begins February 1, 2027 (a Spanish version is also posted). It leads with the district's two bill draft requests, which trustees voted for in August, according to the Las Vegas Sun: full state funding for students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and a change to the enrollment count that makes districts redo school budgets in the fall. The draft also asks for more Pre K money per student, more mental health funding, and continued transportation reimbursement for Open Enrollment families. This is discussion only, with no vote listed.

  • Board meeting calendars for 2028 and 2029: Trustees may adopt the meeting calendars for 2028 and 2029. The two attached drafts keep the current pattern of a 4:00 p.m. work session early in the month and 5:00 p.m. regular meetings after that.

  • Committee and conference updates: Board President Emily Stevens is listed for updates on board committees and on trustees' conference travel, including the Council of the Great City Schools fall conference.

How to take part, according to the November 4 agenda and the board page:

  • Livestream: The board page says "All meetings can be viewed on Youtube or Eduvision on the day of the meeting."

  • Speaking in person: Call the Board Office at 702 799 1072 during regular business hours, at least 8 business hours before the 4:00 p.m. start, or sign up in person right before the meeting begins. Speakers get 3 minutes. On an action item, comment comes after the staff presentation and board discussion and before the vote. A separate 3 minute period just before adjournment covers topics that are not action items.

  • Written comments: Email boardmtgcomments@nv.ccsd.net at least 8 business hours before the start. The agenda says late comments are uploaded to Diligent the next business day.

  • Interpreters and accommodations: Call the Office of the Board of Trustees at 702 799 1072 at least 24 hours ahead for a Spanish or other language interpreter or another accommodation.

Last Week's Board Meeting

Trustees met Thursday, October 29, with a Notice of Intent on Regulation 5127, the high school graduation requirements, on the agenda. The notice sets final action for Thursday, December 10, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. PT, and invites "data, views, or arguments, orally or in writing" before then. As of Friday night, CCSD had posted neither minutes nor a recap of the meeting, so we can't yet report how trustees voted on it or on the support staff agreement.

Election Day Tuesday

Three trustee seats are on Tuesday's ballot

Tuesday is also Election Day in Clark County. Three of the seven elected seats on the CCSD board are on the ballot, according to the Clark County Election Department's list of contests and candidates. In ballot order, District D is David Gomez and Brenda Zamora, District F is Irene Bustamante Adams and Robert E. Hutchinson, and District G is Paul Casey and Linda P. Cavazos. Vote centers are open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and any Clark County voter can use any vote center, according to the county's 2026 General Election Guide.

For hours, same day registration, and mail ballot rules, see CCSD Insider's school board election guide. To see which trustee district you live in, use the trustee finder.

A school building on the vote center list does not mean your child's school is open. By CCSD Insider's count, 74 of the county's 136 Election Day vote centers are CCSD schools, and students are still off.

Important CCSD Dates and Deadlines

  • Tuesday, November 3: no school for students (Election Day and Staff Development Day), per the student calendar.

  • Wednesday, November 11: Veterans Day, no school, per the same calendar. That is the following week, so plan care now if you need it.

  • School Choice for 2027 to 2028: The application deadline is Tuesday, January 12, 2027, at 3:00 p.m., according to magnet.ccsd.net, checked October 29. That one application covers Magnet programs, Open Enrollment, and the Central Technical Training Academy.

The full year of days off is in CCSD Insider's 2026 to 2027 calendar checklist.

Coming Up Next

  • Tuesday, November 10: Attendance Zone Advisory Commission (AZAC). The rezoning commission meets at 9:30 a.m. PT at the Greer Education Center, according to the AZAC site. The district's October 5 newsroom post, rechecked October 30, says the fair is for families interested in the programs at its 45 Magnet Schools. The Magnet events calendar still showed "0 events found" that day and does not list the fair.

Before Monday

  • Set up care for Tuesday, November 3.

  • If you vote, check your sample ballot through the county's Registered Voter Services for a CCSD trustee line.

  • If you want to speak Wednesday, call 702 799 1072 Monday. Sign up closes 8 business hours before the 4:00 p.m. start, and the district has not said whether its offices are open Tuesday, Election Day.

  • Put Saturday, November 14, on the calendar if a Magnet program is on your list. Questions go to the Magnet Schools Department at 702 799 8492 or magnetschools@nv.ccsd.net, both checked on magnet.ccsd.net October 29.
