A CCSD Magnet bus is not automatic. To ride, a student has to live inside that Magnet school's transportation zone and more than two miles from the school under CCSD Regulation 3531, according to Magnet Application Information. The Transportation Information page, checked Thursday, October 29, 2026, says confirming eligibility is the parent's job.

Most Magnet buses don't stop near your house, either. They pick up at shared stops, many of them at another school's bus loading zone, and some run before 6:15 a.m.

How do CCSD Magnet bus stops work?

Each Magnet school has its own list of 2026 to 2027 pickup and drop off locations on the Magnet site, split into four pages: elementary, middle, high school, and Career and Technical Academies. Every entry gives a stop, a morning time, a route number, and an afternoon time.

A typical stop reads "LIBERTY HS @ BERMUDA RD & LIBERTY HEIGHTS AVE (BUS LOADING ZONE)." Basic Academy of International Studies in Henderson picks up there at 7:23 a.m. on route R0808, and has six stops in all. Valley High School's earliest pickup is at Boulder City High School, 7:07 a.m.

Getting to that stop is on you. If the closest one is a high school two neighborhoods over, that's the morning drive.

How early is the Magnet bus?

Earlier than many parents expect, especially at middle schools, Southeast CTA, and Clark High School. From the posted 2026 to 2027 lists:

  • Southeast Career and Technical Academy: 6:09 a.m. at Basic High School, Henderson, and 6:20 a.m. at Boulder City High School

  • KO Knudson Academy of the Arts: 6:07 a.m. at Centennial High School

  • Robert O. Gibson Leadership Academy: 6:13 a.m. at Sunrise Mountain High School

  • Ed W. Clark High School: 6:16 a.m. at Legacy High School, North Las Vegas

  • Fremont Professional Development Middle School: 6:20 a.m. at Webb Middle School

Elementary Magnet stops run later. Most morning times on the elementary page are after 7:40 a.m.

Times and stops are posted for this school year. Stops "may be adjusted year to year," per Application Information, so a 2027 to 2028 schedule may differ.

What does district wide transportation mean?

Eight Magnet schools sit under a "District-Wide Transportation" heading instead of a zone map. Jo Mackey, a K through 8 school, is listed on both the elementary and middle pages:

  • Elementary: Gilbert Academy of Creative Arts, Jo Mackey iLead Academy for the Digital Sciences

  • Middle: Robert O. Gibson Leadership Academy, Jo Mackey

  • High school: Canyon Springs Leadership and Law Preparatory Academy, Desert Pines Magnet Academy, Rancho High School

  • CTA page: Advanced Technologies Academy (ATECH), Veterans Tribute Career and Technical Academy

Their stops are spread across the valley, mostly at high schools. ATECH and Veterans Tribute post the same 38 stops with the same route numbers, from Arbor View High School in the northwest to Basic High School in Henderson. The same pages carry the general rule, zone plus the Regulation 3531 distance test, above these lists, but they don't say whether the two mile rule still applies to district wide schools. Ask the Magnet office before you count on it.

Where are the CCSD Magnet transportation maps, and are they current?

The zone maps are PDFs linked from each grade level page. Their own labels are mostly older than the stop lists:

  • High school International Baccalaureate and STEM maps: labeled 2017/2018 school year

  • High school Performing Arts map: labeled 2021/2022

  • Middle school Performing Arts map: labeled 2015/2016

  • Middle school IB map: labeled 2020/2021

  • Middle school STEM map: titled for 2025 to 2026

  • Elementary IB and STEM maps: titled for 2024 to 2025

  • CTA Transportation Boundaries: "Effective August 2025"

The Transportation Information page says the transportation website information is for 2026 to 2027 and that "adjustments to magnet transportation zones are not reflected on the transportation website." No zone map we found is labeled 2026 to 2027 or 2027 to 2028. If your address sits near a zone line on an old map, get the answer from a person.

How do I check if my child can ride?

Three CCSD tools, all run by the CCSD Transportation Department:

For a student already routed, Infinite Campus shows routing information in the portal mailbox, per the Parents page.

A Magnet applicant isn't routed yet. For a school your child doesn't attend, the Magnet maps and stop lists are what you have, so call before you rank.

Lottery preference is not a bus

Two Magnet rules sound alike and do different jobs. The CTA transportation preference is a lottery preference for Career and Technical Academy applicants who live inside a CTA transportation zone, per the Selection Process page. It does not apply to Veterans Tribute or ATECH, and it doesn't guarantee a bus. Bus eligibility is the zone plus the two mile test.

Geographic preference uses a third map. CCSD Insider's Magnet parent guide covers it, along with how a Magnet seat affects sports eligibility.

If you're not eligible

Families of ineligible students handle the ride themselves and "must ensure regular, on-time attendance," the Transportation Information page says. That matters because a Magnet seat is a full year commitment. Students who accept "commit to attending the magnet school as their full-time assigned school for the entire academic year," and a move to another CCSD school happens only after the school year ends, per Application Information. A hard commute is not listed as an exception.

Some high school students get a Regional Transportation Commission bus pass instead of a yellow bus. CCSD's August 1, 2026 RTC parent letter says eligible high school students in designated RTC service areas are assigned RTC service and are not assigned a school bus route. The letter doesn't single out Magnet students. Details are on the Ride On page.
