About A-Tech
Advanced Technologies Academy is a district magnet and Career & Technical Academy serving grades 9–12. It focuses on STEM, design, business, and digital career pathways.

How families get in
Admission follows the CCSD magnet process. Students apply to a program, complete any required qualification check, and enter a random lottery.
- Apply through the official CCSD School Choice and magnet system.
- STEM-based programs require students to meet CCSD’s published criteria-point threshold before entering the lottery.
- Business Management & Marketing and Graphic Design are interest-based programs without a grade-point screen for lottery entry.
- Typical applicants are rising ninth- or tenth-grade students. Confirm currently eligible grades with CCSD.
- There is no walk-in or direct-registration path for A-Tech.
- Sibling, feeder, and geographic preferences apply only when offered under district rules. Do not rely on word-of-mouth.
Transportation
- District materials state that transportation is offered for registered A-Tech students.
- Routes, eligibility, commute times, and late-bus options are not guaranteed. Verify them with CCSD transportation.
Application windows, program lists, qualification rules, preferences, and transportation can change. Use the official CCSD magnet site for current information.
Who it tends to fit
A good match when
- The student has a clear interest in one of the listed STEM, CTE, design, or business tracks.
- The family is comfortable with a magnet schedule and potentially longer travel.
- The student can handle program-specific coursework and expects to remain in the selected track.
- The family can arrange participation and transportation at the zoned school if NIAA athletics matter.
Think twice when
- The family mainly wants a traditional comprehensive high school with on-campus NIAA sports and a broad elective menu.
- The student is unsure which program to choose.
- The family needs guaranteed neighborhood-school admission and logistics without a lottery.
A-Tech expects students to remain in the program for which they were selected. Ask whether changing tracks is possible before applying.
