CCSD’s Open Enrollment transportation reimbursement is a 2026 to 2027 program with star rating and attendance rules. The posted application deadline was September 30, 2026, and the district says funds are not secured for 2027 to 2028.
Clark County School District’s Open Enrollment Transportation Reimbursement Program pays eligible families up to $1,000 for the 2026 to 2027 school year. The program is for families zoned for a 1 or 2 star CCSD school (using 2024 to 2025 Nevada star ratings) who enrolled a student in a 3 star, 4 star, or 5 star CCSD school through Open Enrollment, with attendance and other conditions. The transportation reimbursement page and a July 29, 2026, CCSD newsroom post both say funds are not secured for the 2027 to 2028 school year or beyond (pages checked Wednesday, October 7, 2026).
On time Open Enrollment applications for 2027 to 2028 opened Monday, October 5, 2026, and close Tuesday, January 12, 2027, at 3:00 p.m., per the Open Enrollment page. A 2027 to 2028 Open Enrollment seat does not come with this reimbursement under the rules posted now.
Who is this reimbursement for?
The star ratings that count are the 2024 to 2025 list posted on the reimbursement page. The Open Enrollment school must be outside your zone, and the pathway formerly called Change of School Assignment counts as Open Enrollment.
Charter or home school families who are zoned for a 1 or 2 star CCSD school and move into a 3 star or higher CCSD Open Enrollment seat meet "the typical eligibility scenario," the reimbursement page states. A family zoned for a 3 star CCSD school whose child is currently attending a 2 star charter school is not eligible, per the same page.
Magnet students are not eligible for these funds. The district says the state grant is limited to the Open Enrollment pathway from 1 or 2 star zones into 3 star or higher schools, and that CCSD already provides transportation options for Magnet enrollment.
How much money, and what attendance rules apply?
District pages advertise up to $1,000 for the school year. The July 29, 2026, newsroom post frames that as $500 at the end of each semester when requirements are met.
The reimbursement page also describes distance tiers once CCSD knows how many families qualify. Assuming about 6,000 eligible families, Tier 1 (one way 40 miles or less) would be $1,000 a year split into two semester checks, and Tier 2 (one way 41 miles or more) would be $1,500 a year split into two semester checks. CCSD sets the final amounts once family counts are known. The newsroom post says "Funds will be utilized this school year until grant funds are exhausted."
To receive funds after each semester, families must:
Complete the form with name and address and attest to financial need for transporting the student to the Open Enrollment school.
Keep the student from chronic absenteeism under the program rule: the student cannot miss more than 10 excused or unexcused school days in one semester.
Confirm the residential address at the end of the semester. Families who no longer live in a 1 or 2 star school zone at that point are not eligible for that semester’s payment.
Complete the full semester. The page says "Reimbursements will only be paid in full after students have successfully completed an entire semester."
CCSD says it will run monthly attendance reports and send parents updates on excused and unexcused absences. If more than one Open Enrollment student is in the household and at least one stays under the 10 day semester threshold, the family can still receive funds under the rule posted on the reimbursement page. Multiple students at the same Open Enrollment school draw one payment. Students at different Open Enrollment schools could be eligible for more, pending available funding; the page says that amount is not yet determined.
Checks go to parents or guardians identified in Infinite Campus through a third party vendor after CCSD confirms eligibility. Under current federal tax rules cited on the page, CCSD can provide payments of up to $2,000 without issuing a 1099; the district still tells families to check with a tax advisor.
Funding comes from a state grant tied to Assembly Bill 533 from the 2025 Legislative Session.
Is the reimbursement application still open?
The reimbursement page still shows banner copy that the deadline “has been extended” and that “There is still time to apply.” The same page says eligible families may apply “until 5pm on Wednesday, September 30, 2026,” and tells families not already enrolled through Open Enrollment to "Apply for Open Enrollment by Friday, August 21, 2026." The July newsroom post had cited Friday, September 4, 2026, for families who had already applied for Open Enrollment.
The reimbursement form linked from the page still opened on October 7, 2026. The September 30, 2026, 5:00 p.m. deadline has passed, and the banner had not been updated as of that check. If you missed it, email ccsdopenenrollment@nv.ccsd.net before counting on a late submission.
Parents who already submitted the form for 2026 to 2027 should watch for district attendance updates and semester payment timing.
Does Open Enrollment come with a district bus?
No. Open Enrollment FAQs state that "CCSD Transportation will NOT be provided for students attending a school on an Open Enrollment (OE) option." That no bus rule applies whether or not a family qualifies for the 2026 to 2027 reimbursement.
General zoned transportation and Magnet transportation are different systems. Check transportation.ccsd.net and the Magnet Transportation page for those paths. For how Open Enrollment fits the wider School Choice window, see CCSD Insider’s companions on Open Enrollment, formerly COSA and the School Choice open window guide.
What should a parent verify before counting on any money?
Check your zoned school’s 2024 to 2025 star rating on the reimbursement page list, and confirm the Open Enrollment school is rated 3 stars or higher on that same rating year.
If you already applied for the 2026 to 2027 reimbursement, track absences against the 10 day semester rule and keep your address in a qualifying 1 or 2 star zone through semester end.
If you missed the September 30, 2026, 5:00 p.m. form deadline, contact the Open Enrollment Department before assuming another chance.
